Initial Challenges

Axis Focus is a company with 20 years of experience in ERP Management Systems. Since 2014, the company has been using cloud computing services from a major public cloud provider. Although satisfied with the high availability offered, increased usage revealed some systemic issues with the portal and financial challenges, such as higher costs in Brazil compared to the U.S., unpredictable monthly payments and variable network costs.

Additionally, the inflexibility regarding cost reduction during periods of lower usage meant the company always paid the highest rate to maintain the flexibility to interrupt use at any time. Charges in foreign currency also fluctuated monthly, causing financial uncertainty.

THE SEARCH FOR A SOLUTION

Faced with these difficulties, the idea of building their own infrastructure arose.

The Transition and Benefits

During the transition, server configuration brought its own challenges. Hiring a ready-made, pre-configured service is much easier, but building an infrastructure from scratch, despite the setbacks, provided huge flexibility. This flexibility allowed for a 2/3 reduction in load times. The company built a much larger computing capacity than it previously had on the public cloud, while maintaining the same cost and with a projected return on investment within 10 months.

The entire network was built with redundancy across all components and a 10 Gb capacity, surpassing the redundancy previously contracted in the public cloud.

RESULTS

With a fixed monthly cost and the stability and security provided by Ascenty, Axis Focus now plans to expand its proprietary infrastructure even further.
